Long weekends always feel so short, don’t they? Especially when my birthday is involved. I love being a holiday baby…fireworks on my birthday every year!
It was a beautiful night so we opted to sit outside. Sibling Rivalry has a substantial patio area that is well shaded and landscaped with plants.
Based on a recommendation, we started with the chickpea fries, which are actually listed as a side dish but we ordered as an appetizer to split.
They were served with a ranch aioli sauce. I was unsure of what to expect with these chickpea fries, but was very pleasantly surprised. They were slightly sweet and fried just enough to be crispy. They were delicious and I would definitely get them again.
The dinner menu literally has something for everyone, there is a tremendous amount of variety. For my entree, I chose the spit roasted half chicken with a savory crepe stuffed with sausage, sage, and pecan and goat cheese filled tomato confit.
The chicken was juicy and flavorful, the green beans were extremely fresh, and the goat cheese filled tomato confit was unbelievable. The only downside of the dish was the crepe. The textures and flavor of the crepe, sausage, and pecans together was strange and I was not impressed with it at all. After two bites I gave up on it. Otherwise, I cleaned my plate.
For dessert Melissa and I split the Blueberry Bread Pudding with Creme Anglaise and Bourbon Chantilly Cream.
The bread pudding was divine, albeit extremely small. It was about 3 steph-sized bites (my theory is it’s not worth eating if you can’t stuff it in your mouth in ginormous bites). Three of these would have equalled a normal sized dessert, but with that being said, I still highly recommend it. It was warm and moist and the real blueberries in the chantilly creme added a nice touch.
Although I really loved the food, the service was severely lacking. It took us over 45 minutes to get our dinner and had to remind our server of our drink refill on a few occasions. Regardless of that, I would still eat there again.
After dinner, Melissa and I headed next door to the Beehive for a few drinks.
After being hit on by a pair of 60 year old black men whose opening line was to ask if we were stewardesses, a failed attempt by Melissa to score the really hot bartender, and being witness to a random couple sneak off to the bathroom to do unspeakable things, we called it a night. We had a great time though with our shenanigans. If only you could be a fly on the wall for the raunchy conversations Melissa Nibbles and I have
